“Broumov lands in EU”
Conference about development in the European context

 

Association Stenava launched the conference Broumov lands in Europe on Wednesday, January 22 2003 under auspices of Mr. Bradik, the Governor of the Kralovehradecky region. His Excellence Mr. Cibrian, Ambassador of the EU in Prague, Mr. Nemec, Minister of Regional Development of the Czech Republic, and other guests were among speakers of the conference.

The introduction speech of the Governor Bradik was called Civic society and Europe. Mr. Bradik called there for real citizenship in the everyday life: “It seems we can become citizens some times only – in extreme periods of time, when we are able to cooperate, collect money to help suffering people, etc. But it is important to be citizens everyday, every minute. We have to learn it …”
Mr. Ramiro Cibrián spoke in his keynote about European Integration and regional programs for the Czech Republic. Mr. Nemec presented regional operation programs prepared by the Czech government. Development of local entrepreneurship, development of regional infrastructure and communication technologies, care about environment, and development of tourism were called as priorities of the programs.
One of the most interesting according the opinion of participants was a speech of Mr. Dohnal, Governor of the Vysocina region.

The mains speeches of the conference were followed by panel discussions focused on concrete questions of the regional and local development as well as cross-border cooperation. Very interesting contributions made invited Members of the Kralovehradecky regional government: Mr. Vsetecka (responsible for regional development), Mr. Penkava (environment), Mr. Klima (investment and strategic planning). All participants could contribute to the discussion focused on questions vital for the regional and local development.

More than 200 participants took part at the conference: Businessmen, representatives of local and regional administration, deputies of the Czech Parliament, representatives of NGO's, teachers and students, citizens of Broumov region and also guests from Poland. Most of them left the room only in the late afternoon after the conference finished.
